Visit the Independent Media Center to take in “Coming Home", a multi-media art show about being unhoused, housed, being home, coming home, and being welcome or unwelcome - in our buildings, in our bodies and in our families. Combine your visit with the chance to hear poetry by participants from the Self-Care Writing Workshop. The poetry reading will be held on Saturday, April 13th from 3-5pm and will feature new poems created during this transformative workshop series that engaged a small group from the community in art-making for healing during a weekly workshop at the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center.
Victory Fest will also be collecting materials to support a mother of newborn twins who recently struggled with housing insecurity. Check back here for details on how you can contribute.
The Self-Care Writing Workshop is hosted by the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center and Cunningham Township Supervisor's Office.
