Description: Capoeira Angola is an Afro- Brazilian art form that encompasses folkloric traditions, oral history, dance, and song into a martial art. The art is a unique and uplifting cultural experience that brings together beauty and power, balance and physical conditioning, as well as dance, music, language, art, and self-defense. The Center offers weekly adult and kids classes that are open to all levels. The Center’s inclusive environment brings students of all ages genders, and ethnicities together to grow and build a strong community. Our Capoeira Angola classes are for all skill levels and will be led by Contramestre Denis Chiaramonte, a student of Mestre João Grande. Contramestre Denis has been teaching Capoeira and other Afro-Brazilian cultural expressions for the past 30 years. Classes will include movement as well as music basics of the Capoeira Angola tradition. Please come wearing pants, shoes and a t-shirt you can comfortably move in. White clothes are preferred, but optional for beginners.
