U-C IMC Inauguration 2009 DC Trip Day 4 (Inauguration Day) & some thoughts
It's been three days since we got back to Champaign-Urbana and still I am having a hard time properly putting into words our past weeks experiences in D.C. I keep going back to using words like amazing, intense, and incredible but twitch inside due to their inadequacy. These are words I use daily and January 20th 2009 was anything but a daily experience. I have either to find new words or start using those words less.
I keep going back to the sheer mass of people that have left their mark on me and vice versa. I likely physically touched, bumped into, or brushed up against hundreds if not thousands of people. My ears were taking in the understandable words of thousands if not tens of thousands of voices and hearing the murmers and buzz from hundreds of thousands. I saw with my eyes over a million people. Already those faces and voices are becoming fuzzy to me. They say you don't ever forget what you have heard and seen that you just loose the connection to those memories. The idea that ten years from now I could come up with a great idea and in reality it was someone elses that I overheard in that crowd is amazing to me. Not only were we all experiencing a single great moment in our worlds history, we were all sharing our peronal great moments with each other.
There is so much more that could be said but I think it's best to let ours and others videos and images show you what it was like to be in the middle of it. Below we have our day 4 Inauguration Day video and images. Enjoy!
