March 9, 2010 Share a Meal: You're invited!

Share-A-Meal with Community Shares:

Join the IMC and Community Shares of Illinois for Share-A-Meal on March 9, 2010. You can have a wonderful meal with people you enjoy AND support 75 non-profit organizations in your community.

The Seventh Annual Share-A-Meal with Community Shares will be held at restaurants in Champaign-Urbana on Tuesday, March 9, 2010.  The event is sponsored by Community Shares of Illinois, a non-profit organization representing over 75 local charities, including the IMC.

Four restaurants in Champaign-Urbana are expected to donate 20-50% of their sales on March 9th to Community Shares of Illinois and its member organizations.  Using pledge cards provided at each restaurant, diners will also have the option to direct a portion of their bill to the IMC or any of the 75 charities that are members of Community Shares of Illinois.

Participating restaurants in Champaign-Urbana include:
Luna - 116 N. Chestnut, Champaign (lunch)
Siam Terrace - 212 W. Main St., Urbana (dinner)
Great Impasta - 156 C Lincoln Square, Urbana (lunch & dinner)

Black Dog Smoke & Ale House - 201 N. Broadway Avenue, Urbana (lunch & dinner)

Share-A-Meal gives groups like the IMC an opportunity to raise needed funds in a more relaxed atmosphere where we can spend time talking with our supporters and with others who perhaps aren’t familiar with the work we do.  We invite everyone to participate in this event because it is so simple and it really gives back to the community.  All you have to do to is come out for dinner on March 9th to one of the participating restaurants.

Community Shares of Illinois represents more than 75 organizations working to make our state a better place to live.  These organizations work to improve the quality of life in Illinois by addressing a wide range of issues including affordable housing, health care, the environment, and civil rights, as well as other issues affecting women, children, people of color, working families, people with disabilities, and the poor.
