Habitat for Humanity's Annual Vollyball Tournament: Spikin' for Homes
(Champaign, IL) Habitat for Humanity is “Spikin’ for Homes”
It’s fall, and that means it’s time for the University of Illinois chapter of Habitat for Humanity’s annual sand volleyball tournament on Saturday, September 25. This event is to help bring awareness to students and residents of Champaign, Urbana and Savoy about the need to end substandard housing. There are 26,000 people in Champaign County who live in poverty, and this sand volleyball fundraiser is a great and fun way to help Habitat for Humanity raise the needed funds to help end substandard housing. This is a great opportunity to watch students come together to have fun and help the community.
To participate in this event or volunteer to help out, sign up on our website, uiuchabitat.org. The tournament will be held at the sand courts on Oak and Stadium near Ikenberry Commons (formerly the Six Pack). Sign in begins at 9:30 on Saturday, September 25 and the tournament begins at 10:00. It costs $12 to play per player, but there will be prizes and food is provided for all players. Each team needs a minimum of 6 players, 2 of which should to be female.
For more information about this event, contact Ruth Tekeste at 773-403-1635 or ruttek@gmail.com.
Our mission is to end substandard housing in partnership with the campus and surrounding community by connecting with families, education, building, and fundraising.
